Chairman and Investor-Operator - Columbus Crew SC and Crew Stadium
As the Managing Partner of Precourt Sports Ventures, LLC (PSV), Anthony Precourt became the second Investor-Operator in the 18-year history of Columbus Crew SC on July 30, 2013. Anthony brings an accomplished professional background in the investment management industry to his new role as the Chairman of the Columbus Crew SC, one of Major League Soccer’s charter franchises and the manager of Crew Stadium, the League’s first soccer-specific venue.
In October 2014, ahead of the club’s 20th season in Major League Soccer in 2015, Precourt’s vision spearheaded the club’s first re-brand in organization history, which launched a new badge and brand that honors the team’s legacy and its commitment to the city of Columbus as the two move forward together.
Since 2008, Precourt has been the Managing Partner of Precourt Capital Management (PCM). PCM’s principal lines of business are investment management services and private equity investing in the energy sector. In 2012, Anthony formed Precourt Sports Ventures, LLC (PSV) to combine two passions – investments and sports. As part of a diversification strategy into sports-entertainment, Precourt Sports Ventures was formed to pursue investments in both team sports and other related sports-entertainment verticals with a particular interest in the growing sport of soccer. Precourt started his career in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions with both Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Banc Alex Brown. Later, he moved to WHV Investment Management, a $12 billion dollar public equity investment management company, where he worked in a variety of executive positions in security analysis, portfolio management and research that led to his ascension to the firm’s senior management team.
Precourt’s primary philanthropic focus has been the Precourt Foundation, which emphasizes making a positive impact in the Precourt family’s local communities. Major grants have focused on energy efficiency, education/scholarships and healthcare.
An active community participant, Precourt is currently serving his children’s school as a capital campaign co-chair, as well as a youth soccer and lacrosse coach. He is also on the Board of the Columbus Crew Soccer Foundation and the Columbus Partnership. Anthony received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Pepperdine University, and later earned an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. In his free time, Precourt enjoys skiing, fly fishing, biking and spending time with his wife and three children.
