In the wake of Clint Dempsey's historic season at Fulham, Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl took the time to rank the 15 best single-season performances for US players playing across the pond. Four former Crew players made the cut including Brad Friedel and Brian McBride. John Harkes and Thomas Dooley also made the list for their time abroad before Major League Soccer's inception in 1996. The Black & Gold is tied with the second-most players on the list with the New England Revolution. New York/New Jersey tops the list with six former players.
Crew legend Brian McBride will help relive some of the great USA-Mexico memories in The Legends Classic taking place at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA on Sunday. McBride will join former US Men's National Team mainstays Alexi Lalas, Eric Wynalda, and Cobi Jones to face former Mexico stars in the weekend exhibition. Of McBride's 30 career goals for the US, two came against El Tri. McBride also played in both of the famous "Dos a Cero" World Cup Qualifiers against Mexico that took place at Crew Stadium.
In his first appearance for the Costa Rican national team, Crew forward Olman Vargas scored in the 49th minute to bring La Sele even with Honduras. The friendly ended in a 1-1 draw from San Jose. Check out the highlights below. Vargas' goal comes at the 1:30 mark:

Along with two consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year awards, add being named one of Cosmopolitan's "Hot Soccer Players We Can't Resist" to Ethan Finlay's list of accolades. The rookie midfielder is joined on the list of Cosmo's favorite MLS players with the likes of David Beckham, Benny Feilhaber, and Chris Wondolowski.
"It's made me really humble," Finlay said of the honor. "It's nice when someone besides your girlfriend thinks you're attractive."
According to Finlay, his better half took it well, "She loved it. She put it on her Facebook."
Finlay's spot on the list didn't come without some teasing from his Crew teammates.
"They were telling me I shouldn't be practicing today, I'm too pretty," the Creighton product said after practice on Tuesday. "They're giving me a hard time, but I guess it comes with the honor."
One teammate who's not giving Finlay any grief is captain Chad Marshall, whose locker resides next to the rookie midfielder:

When asked what advice he'd give to single men in Columbus, Finlay responded, "My advice: be you. Personality goes farther than the looks in the end."
After all, perhaps it was Finlay's personality that landed him on Cosmo's prestigious list.
"Hopefully it wasn't just my looks. Hopefully they like what they heard about my personality, but who knows?"
