BACK ON THE ROAD
For the second time in three matches, the Crew takes to the road for an early-season test ... the Black & Gold are looking for their first back-to-back road wins since 2010 when an four-day span in May saw wins at New York (May 20) and Kansas City (May 23).
LOOKING FOR HISTORIC HOT START AWAY FROM HOME
Following the 3-0 win at D.C. United in the first away match of 2014, the Crew has a chance on Saturday to accomplish something the team has been unable to do in more than 10 years: win its first two road games of a campaign ... the last time the club won its first two tilts away from Crew Stadium was in 2003 with April wins at New York (April 12) and at New England (April 19).
STOPPING BY SIGI’S HOUSE...
Saturday marks another match against former Crew boss Sigi Schmid and the man that helped lead the Crew to its first MLS Cup victory in 2008 ... Schmid held a record of 44-33-25 in three seasons in Columbus from 2006-2008.
... AND FAMILIAR FACES IN MARSHALL, EVANS
Saturday marks the first time that Chad Marshall faces his former club ... last December, the Crew traded Marshall to Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for allocation money and a 2015 Third Round SuperDraft selection ... Marshall played in more minutes (22,220), matches (253) and seasons (10) than anyone else in the Black & Gold's 19-year history ... Brad Evans also began his MLS career with the Crew and following his rookie season in 2007, his 26 appearances and five goals helped the Crew to a 2008 MLS Cup title run ... Evans, however, has seen his former club since joining Seattle in 2009.
SHARP PASSES, SMART PASSES OVERALL ...

LA Galaxy ........................................ 80.82
Philadelphia Union ........................ 79.66

In just his second season in Black & Gold, Wil Trapp has become a vital part of the Crew midfield. SoccerAmerica has taken notice, listing the 21-year-old among the top Homegrown Players in MLS. Along with New England's Diego Fagundez and Seattle Sounders FC's DeAndre Yedlin, Trapp is one of the many success stories of MLS academy players to succeed at the professional level.
Chad Marshall owns nearly all of the Crew's club records win it comes to longevity, having played in more minutes (22,220), matches (253) and seasons (10) than anyone else in the team's 19-year history. For the first time on Saturday, the two-time MLS Defender of the Year will face his former club since being traded to Seattle Sounders FC in December.
"I think a change was needed," Marshall told SoundersFC.com. "I enjoyed my time in Columbus very much. Ten years is a long time. I feel like I grew up there, coming [into MLS] as a teenager. "
Though it will surely be strange for Marshall to see so many of his former teammates as opposition this weekend, the centerback admits it will be "just another soccer game."
"It'll probably be a little different to see the black and yellow on the other side, but there are a lot of players in this League who've played against old teams and teammates." he said. "Once the whistle blows, it's just another soccer game."
The Crew kicks off against the Sounders at 10:00 p.m. ET on Saturday night (Time Warner Cable SportsChannel / 95.5 The Game / 103.1 La Mega).
Crew play-by-play man Neil Sika joins 95.5 The Game's The BIG Show to talk everything Black & Gold.
Following a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union, the Black & Gold saw upward movement across all Power Rankings this week. The Crew's biggest jump was in ESPNFC's poll, in which it moved up four spots to the number seven position. The Black & Gold peaked at number five in MLSsoccer.com's rankings.

Matt Lampson welcomed LLS Hero Sean Tibbs to Crew Stadium for the home-opener on Saturday. Sean, a student at St. Pius X School in Reynoldsburg was also visited by Crew Cat on St. Patrick’s Day and presented with a Lampson signed goalkeeper jersey during a LLS assembly at his school.
Looking to continue the Hero program that Lampson started during the 2013 season, the goalkeeper will be working with LLS to invite a child and their family to every home and away match during the 2014 season.
As part of Major League Soccer's new partnership with Chipotle Mexican Grill, Crew Homegrown midfielder Wil Trapp recently presented with his Chipotle Homegrown Card. With the card, the 21-year-old will receive free burritos, bowls and tacos every day for the next year.
