2014 (Columbus/Dayton/Wilmington): Stuver did not make a League appearance for Columbus during the 2014 season. He spent time on-loan with the Dayton Dutch Lions and the Wilmington Hammerheads of USL PRO. He did not make an appearance with Dayton in USL PRO League action in 2014, but was the primary back-up in the match against Richmond (April 26) and against LA Galaxy II (May 10). He missed time beginning in June with a left ankle arthroscopy. Stuver was loaned to USL PRO’s Wilmington Hammerheads FC for the remainder of the season (August 4). He made his debut for Wilmington in a home match against Dayton (August 9) and continued his run in the club’s starting lineup for the club’s next 11 matches, earning three clean sheets and the honor of being named to USL-PRO’s Team of the Week for Week 24. He did not dress for both the club’s postseason opener against New England (November 1) or in the second leg at the Revolution (November 9). Stuver started in two Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches for Dayton: against Schwaben AC (May 15) and in the 5-2 loss against Indy Eleven (May 28).
2013 (MLS Pool Goalkeeper): Stuver was drafted in the Second Round, 32nd overall, by the Montreal Impact in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. He spent 2013 as an MLS pool goalkeeper and made appearances in gameday rosters for Columbus, New England, Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA.
Stuver compiled a 33-27-7 record in four seasons collegiately at Cleveland State University, including a senior season in which he started all 20 of his team’s matches, posting a 11-6-3 record with a 0.86 goals against average. As a junior and a senior, he earned Second Team All-Horizon League honors after being tabbed Horizon League Goalkeeper of Year and All-Horizon League First Team honors as a sophomore. He posted a team-best 58 saves in his freshmen season in just 10 starts, becoming the number one goalkeeper for the Vikings by the end of his first campaign.
Stuver was named to the 2008 Plain Dealer All-Star Team and earned All-Ohio honors after his senior season at Twinsburg High School playing for Mike Lally, finishing his prep career with 24 shutouts in goal and 12 goals and three assists as a midfielder. Stuver was also an Academic All-American during high school.
Stuver was selected fourth overall by Columbus in the 2013 MLS Waiver Draft.
Stuver is the son of Ron and LeAnne Stuver. He has an older brother, Ryan, girlfriend, Ashley, and a puppy named Nella. In his free time, Stuver enjoys playing basketball, tennis, Xbox and watching Netflix. His favorite food is steak. Stuver enjoys action, adventure and comedy movies and he is a big fan of the “Harry Potter” series. His favorite music is hip-hop, pop and house music, but he has a little bit of everything on his iPod except for country. Stuver’s favorite musical artists include Justin Timberlake, Andy Grammer, B.o.B and David Guetta. His favorite place he’s traveled to is London, but Amsterdam is a close second. He’s always wanted to travel to Australia and see a kangaroo. His role model growing up was former Columbus and United States National Team player, and current Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, Brad Friedel. His favorite non-MLS soccer team is Friedel’s former club, Blackburn Rovers, and he also supports the Cleveland Cavaliers. Stuver’s favorite soccer player is currently FC Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. His most memorable soccer memory is winning the Horizon League Championship and advancing to the NCAA tournament during his senior year at Cleveland State University.
