PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2014 (Columbus): In his first season with Columbus, Clark made all 34 starts and went 14-10-10 with a 1.24 goals against average and eight shutouts. He was named Columbus’s Defender of the Year and captured the Kirk Urso Heart Award. Clark was one of just five League players to play every minute for his club in 2014. He made his club debut while recording one save and his first shutout at D.C. United (March 8). He made three saves in the Black & Gold’s 2014 home-opener against Philadelphia Union (March 22), picking up the 2-1 win. Clark made a stoppage-time save of a penalty kick to secure a shutout draw in the 0-0 match against D.C. United (June 7). He made five saves in the club’s 2-1 home victory over Montreal (July 19), winning the League’s Save of the Week award for a double-stop on Marco Di Vaio and Andres Romero. Clark set a new season- and career-high with six saves in the Black & Gold’s 2-1 win at New England (July 26). He tied his career-high in saves by making six in a 2-2 draw at Houston (September 13). Clark posted his seventh shutout of the campaign and again matched his career-high in saves with six in a victory over New England (September 20). He made four stops in both a loss at New England (October 4) and a win at Philadelphia (October 11), surpassing 100 saves on the season. Clark made his MLS Cup Playoffs debut in the first leg against New England (November 1), recording five saves. He made seven saves in the second leg (November 9), setting a new all-competitions MLS career best. Clark started in both Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches, securing the Fourth Round victory over Indy Eleven (June 17) before advancing to the Fifth Round against Chicago (June 25). 

2013 (Honefoss BK): In his final season with Honefoss BK, Clark again started 30 contests for the club. He posted a 6-13-11 record with a 1.56 goals against average and four shutouts.

2012 (Honefoss BK): Back in Norway’s highest level of competition, Clark posted a 7-11-12 record in Tippeligaen regular-season play. He paired his 1.40 goals against average with nine shutouts.

2011 (Honefoss BK):  In 2011, as the club made a run for promotion back to Norway’s top-tier division, the Tippeligaen, Clark led the team with 12 shutouts and a 0.93 goals against average. He helped the club secure points in 25 of the team's 30 matches en route to a 16-5-9 record.

2010 (Honefoss BK): In his first season with Honefoss BK, the club was in Norway’s top-flight League, the Tippeligaen, before being relegated to the second-tier Adeccoligaen for the 2011 season. During the 2010 campaign, Clark made just four appearances and was 1-3-0 with a 2.27 goals against average and one shutout.

COLLEGE AND CLUB EXPERIENCE

Clark played collegiately at Oakland University from 2005-2008 and was a two-time All-Summit League player as a junior and senior. In his final season with the Golden Grizzlies he ranked eighth in the country with a 0.54 goals against average, and he was also named to the All-Midwest Region First Team, posting a Summit League record-tying 11 shutouts. Clark also secured the honor of Summit League Defensive Player of the Year in 2008.

With the Michigan Bucks of the USL Premier Development League (PDL) from 2006-2009, he made 75 appearances and helped the Bucks to a PDL championship in 2006, while being named Most Valuable Player in the title match. He made four starts in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup action during his time with the Bucks, including a July 12, 2006 Third Round match-up against Columbus, where he made nine saves in a 4-1 Black & Gold win. Clark also had a brief stint in 2009 with the Charleston Battery before departing for Norway.

ACQUIRED

Clark was traded to Columbus in exchange for a 2015 Fourth Round SuperDraft pick from Seattle Sounders FC on December 16, 2013.

PERSONAL

Clark is the son of Michael Clark and Lou Anne Seabrook. He is engaged to Carella DiMaggio, has a dog named Ace and enjoys hanging out with his family and catching-up on lost time after spending 2010-2013 in Europe. Additionally, Clark enjoys golf, yoga, meditation and contemplative prayer in his spare time. An avid reader, Clark enjoys non-fiction books, including memoirs. His favorite book is "Lake Effect" by Rich Cohen. Coming from a large family, Clark has three step brothers, one brother, one sister and one step sister. He lists his parents as his biggest role models. Clark's favorite team outside of MLS is Dortmund in the Bundesliga. A fan of indie movies and documentaries, Clark learned to enjoy traveling while abroad and prefers listening to singer-songwriter music as well as hip-hop, electronic and country tunes. He grew up admiring goalkeeper Kasey Keller and lists being promoted with Honefoss BK in 2011 and beating Michigan State in NCAA Tournament play in 2007 as his two favorite soccer memories.
