2013 (Crew): Schoenfeld made nine appearances – including two starts - at forward in 2013 where he recorded one goal and one assist. He made his season debut in an appearance at forward at Toronto (May 18) and started his first match of the season at forward – his fourth career MLS start overall – against Portland (July 7) where he suffered a foul in the box that led to an opponent’s 11th minute red card and a Black & Gold penalty kick. Schoenfeld started at forward in the international friendly against Wigan Athletic (July 13) and again the following week against New England (July 20) at home before leaving in the 36th minute with a right shoulder sprain that would sideline him for five matches from July 27-August 24. He was upgraded to questionable for the match against Seattle (August 31), but did not dress. Later, he pushed across his first career MLS goal – which was nominated for MLS ‘Goal of the Week’ honors – and also added an assist as a second-half substitute at forward at New England (October 19). Schoenfeld started the final game of the regular-season at forward (October 27). He made six starts at forward – 10 appearances overall – in MLS Reserve League action and appeared in two matches in 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play: a start against Dayton Dutch Lions (May 29) and a substitute appearance at Chicago (June 13).
2012 (Crew): As a rookie, Schoenfeld appeared in nine matches with three starts to record one assis for the Black & Gold. The forward's first career assist came on a lay-off to Eddie Gaven on April 21 against the Houston Dynamo. He made his first start in Black & Gold on April 14 at Philadelphia and made his MLS debut on March 24 as a substitute vs. Montreal.
In four years at ETSU, Schoenfeld recorded 20 goals and 10 assists in 72 games. While at ETSU, Schoenfeld received a series of accolades including Atlantic Sun First Team All Conference and Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team honors as a junior and senior, as well as A-Sun All-Academic Honors all four years of his collegiate career. He was also named to the NSCAA First Team All-South Region his senior year and Second Team his junior year.
Schoenfeld was signed on March 23, 2012 after the Crew acquired his rights from the Montreal Impact in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft.
Schoenfeld is the son of Robert and Sherry Schoenfeld. In his free time, he enjoys playing the FIFA video game series and hanging out with his dog. Schoenfeld likes action movies, and his go-to movies are “Rounders” and “Step Brothers.” His favorite foods include pizza and Chipotle, and he enjoys listening to Mumford and Sons. His favorite place he’s traveled to is St. Martin and he’s always wanted to visit Dubai. Schoenfeld’s favorite non-MLS soccer team is Tottenham Hotspur FC of the Barclays Premier League and his favorite soccer player is Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Knoxville, Tenn., native is also a fan of the Tennessee Titans and the University of Tennessee Volunteers. His favorite soccer memory is his first professional goal and his role model is his father.
