Marshall honored to pass Clark on Crew's all-time games played list

Crew Captain now the all-time leader in games played in Black & Gold

2012 has been a milestone year for Crew Captain Chad Marshall. Despite missing eight matches this season with a concussion, Marshall has surpassed several personal and club records in 2012.

The centerback hit the 200 match plateau, starting in the season-opener in Colorado. At the time, Marshall became just the 25th player in MLS history to play 200 matches for the same club. Additionally, Marshall surpassed Mike Clark's record of 18,942 minutes played for the Black & Gold during the Crew's August 29 match in Philadelphia.

Player Matches Played For The Crew*
1 Chad Marshall 223
2 Mike Clark 221
3 Jeff Cunningham 203
4 Eddie Gaven 197
5 Brian Maisonneuve 172
6 Brian McBride 161
7 Robert Warzycha 160
8 Frankie Hejduk 147
9 Todd Yeagley 138
10 Duncan Oughton 136

Most recently Marshall started his 222nd match, again passing Clark on top the club's all-time list on September 29 against the Union.

"It means a lot. Obviously, I've been here a long time," Marshall said. "I've gotten to play with some pretty cool people. It's awesome. It's something I've always looked at over the years, and hoped for. I've always said I admire those guys who spend their whole career with one team or a large part of their career with one team, so I'm happy to be one of those guys right now and have that mark."

At just 28-years-old, Marshall has plenty of good years ahead of him to extend his lead in the Crew's record book if he stays healthy. The Crew captain will likely make his 224th MLS appearance on October 20 against D.C. United in a pivotal Eastern Conference clash as both teams battle for a spot in the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs.
