"Tough decisions" loom for Crew, writes The Dispatch's Adam Jardy

Throughout the Crew’s 2013 campaign, Black & Gold nation showed their support in waves as Crew Stadium average attendance was the largest year-over-year percentage increase in MLS this year. Paul Kennedy of Soccer America reviews the Crew’s attendance increase for 2013 in addition to League averages across MLS.  

Crew Captain Federico Higuain has been named one of 32 candidates by FutbolMLS.com in contention for Latino del Año 2013. Voting for the award, given to MLS’s top Latin American player of the year, begins Monday, November 4 with the rest of the field to be announced in the coming days. Pipa finished the year for the Black & Gold with 11 goals, nine assists and a team record six penalty-kick goals in 2013.

Adam Jardy of The Columbus Dispatch writes that “tough decisions must be made” regarding the Crew’s roster and coaching search moving forward. Jardy examines how Interim Head Coach Brian Bliss factors into the Black & Gold’s head coaching search and also offers his take on the impending roster decisions to be made in the off-season with several contracts set to expire.

Yesterday, it was announced that Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) president Michel Platini had publicly spoke in favor of expanding the FIFA World Cup draw to 40 teams. In response, FIFA Vice-president Jim Boyce is has made it known that he would be “very interested” to hear Platini’s proposals moving forward. From ESPNFC.com’s staff report, the Platini Proposal would call for “two more nations from Asia, Africa and North America, as well as one more from Oceania and Europe.”
