Crew's Jairo Arrieta earns international call-up

Forward to represent Costa Rica in friendlies against Chile and South Korea

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew announced today that forward Jairo Arrieta has been called-up for National Team duty ahead of ahead of Costa Rica’s upcoming friendly matches. Under Head Coach Jorge Luis Pinto, Costa Rica travels to face fellow 2014 FIFA World Cup finalist Chile on Wednesday, January 22 before squaring-off against South Korea in the United States on Saturday, January 25 at the Los Angeles Coliseum. 

Following the matches, Arrieta is set to join the Crew in Bradenton, Fla. for the Black & Gold’s first trip of the 2014 preseason schedule.

THE CREW’S 2014 PRESEASON SCHEDULE

Of Arrieta’s 15 total caps with Los Ticos since 2011, 11 of them were earned during 2013 as the Nicoya, Costa Rica native made nine starts and scored four goals across call-ups for the 2013 Copa Centroamericana, international friendlies, 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying and the 2013 Gold Cup.

The Crew begins the 2014 season at D.C. United on Saturday, March 8. Before then, the club continues preparation for preseason training.
