2014 (Crew): Has made 10 appearances -- one start and nine substitute appearances -- and has scored one goal ... made his Crew -- and MLS -- debuts in the 2014 season opener on March 8 ... made a second appearance as a sub in the match at San Jose (April 13) ... made his first appearance at Columbus Crew Stadium as a substitute against New York (April 26) ... made a fourth appearance as a sub in the match at Houston (May 7) ... saw his next appearance as a sub in the match against Real Salt Lake (June 4) and again at D.C. (June 7) and at Colorado (July 4) ... came on for an injured Jairo Arrieta in the first half at New York (July 12) and scored his first MLS goal ... entered the match at halftime against Sporting Kansas City (July 16) ... made his first League start vs. Montreal (July 19) ... scored the opening goal in a start at forward against Crystal Palace FC in the club’s international friendly (July 23) ... Bedell made one appearance in the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament ... he started at forward in the Fourth Round match against Indy Eleven (June 17) but was issued a straight red card for a foul that kept him from playing in the Fifth Round match at Chicago (June 25).
At 6-foot-6 in stature, Bedell (pronounced: “ba-dell”), scored 23 goals and recorded 22 assists in his four-year college career at University of Detroit Mercy. In his freshmen season, he played in all 19 matches – including 17 starts – and led the team in assists with eight, tying a school single-season assist record at 10th all-time. In his sophomore season in 2011, he added three goals and four assists before a breakout season as a junior. In 2012, Bedell was named Horizon League Player of the Year, Horizon League Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-League with his League-leading 11 goals. His five assists that season was also tied for the League-lead. In his senior season, he was selected to his second consecutive Horizon League First Team and First Team All-Horizon League. Bedell added eight goals and five assists in his final year on the Titans squad .
Bedell was a participant in the Crew’s College Combine, hosted by the Crew’s First Team technical staff on December 14, 2013.
YOUTH AND CLUB EXPERIENCE
The Livonia, Michigan native also played for the Crew Soccer Academy Wolves program in Michigan.
Bedell was a four-year varsity letter-winner at Winston Churchill High School, finishing his career with 26 goals (fourth all-time) and 31 assists (second all-time). He earned All-Michigan First Team Honors in 2009 as the Chargers were Kensington Lakes Athletic Association South Division champions in both his junior and senior seasons. Additionally, Bedell earned Scholar-Athlete awards all four years of high school and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Additionally, Bedell played with minor-league club Detroit City FC (NPSL) during the summer of 2013.
Bedell was signed on March 5, 2014. He was selected in Third Round (45th overall) in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft on January 21, 2014.
Bedell is the son of Tom and Karen Bedell. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies and sleeping. He particularly enjoys action and comedy flicks. Bedell's favorite vacation destination is Aruba and would love to travel anywhere in Europe someday. He enjoys listening to country, alternative and house music and lists Fallout Boy as his favorite band. His role model is his father and idolizes Cristiano Ronaldo's game. Outside of MLS, Bedell supports Manchester United and is a Detroit Red Wings fan. Bedell traveled to South Africa for the FIFA World Cup in 2010 as a fan and also played high school basketball.
