2014 (Colorado): Klute logged 2,132 minutes over 25 appearances (24 starts) for Colorado in his second full MLS campaign. He led the club in crosses from open play (51) and tackles won (67), as well as ranked third on the team in touches (1,634). He also contributed one assist for the Rapids on the year.

2013 (Colorado): The defender played his first full season in MLS, making a career-high 31 appearances (30 starts) for the Rapids. He notched seven assists to lead the club, winning the team's Defensive Player of the Year award as voted upon by his teammates and technical staff. He also received mention in consideration for the MLS Best XI.

2012 (Atlanta Silverbacks/Colorado): After spending two seasons playing for the Silverbacks' reserves, Klute signed his first professional contract with Atlanta on June 21, 2012. He made 12 appearances (11 starts) with the Silverbacks before joining Colorado on loan late in the 2012 MLS season. He made his League debut on October 27, 2012 in a 2-0 victory over Houston.

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

Klute spent one season at Furman University (2008) before transferring and playing a second collegiate season with Clayton State in 2011. With Furman, he made 19 appearances (17 starts), recording one assist and helping the club to an 11-8-1 record. He then went on to play in every minute of Clayton State's 2011 campaign, where he was named to the Daktronics 2011 NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region team.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Klute was called up by United States Men's National Team Head Coach Jürgen Klinsmann on January 3, 2014 for the senior team's winter training camp 26-man roster of that year. Previously, Klute made appearances for the U.S. Under-20 and Under-17 sides, helping the U-17s qualify for the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup in South Korea. In that tournament, Klute started in a Group Stage match against Tunisia.

ACQUIRED

Crew SC acquired defender Chris Klute from the Colorado Rapids as part of the transaction executed during the First Round of the 2015 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Crew SC acquired Klute and the 19th overall selection from Colorado in exchange for the Black & Gold’s First Round (14th overall) selection and allocation money.

Away from the field, Klute likes to watch movies and play video games. His favorite movie is Black Hawk Down, and currently the game he finds himself playing the most is Destiny on Xbox One. If he weren't a professional soccer player, he would like to pursue a career in the video game industry, preferably on the journalism side, such as writing for a magazine. As a kid, he was a Manchester United fan. His favorite soccer memory was his first full season in MLS.
